Feminism is not about making women strong. We already are. It’s about believing in our strength and changing how the world perceives it. I’m not going out on a limb when I say that most US women friends in my age group are so indoctrinated in patriarchy that they are blind to the inequalities. However, our belief system will shift if we focus on what women have accomplished and what it took to get here.

When my peers say, "We are not ready for a woman president," I wonder how they came to this conclusion. What in their experiences makes a woman president an impossibility? Our thoughts create our reality. Repeated thoughts become our facts. What can change our realities? My answer would be reading and other people's influences.

In the last three years, I've observed a promising movement. Powerful old men are speaking out in support of women as equals. Just when I thought it would never happen, like passing the 19th Amendment, the light of dawn for equal rights is shining hopeful.
